I am confused. Didn't you say you were from Taiwan? But you are certainly
welcome!
Winter in Taiwan can be cold, by TAIWANESE' standard. The same temperatures
are balmy for a Bostonian like me.
Here is the web site for Central Weaher Bureau, a government agency in
Taiwan. Temperatures these days, on the plain, are about 20 degrees
CENTIGRADE, which is in upper 60s in Fahrenheit.

Now that you are going to visit Alishan whose elevation is 2,663 meters, you
can click the 嘉義地區 (Chiayi/Jiayi County) and forecast for Alisha will
pop out.
There are two ADDITIONAL websites for weather forecase there (presumably at
the summit)

What to bring to Taiwan?
I thought about a car (a resident there was entitled to bring his own car
from abroad back which I thought of selling it, as Taiwan once imposed high
tariff on imported car). But a decade before Taiwan joined World Trade
Organization (WTO) in 2002, Taiwan, possibly under pressure from US, had
substantially reduced the tariff.
Then I thought about bringing Cape Cod potato chip (I live in Boston), to
show how tasty the cip could be. But I did not have anybody to love in
Taiwan, so I brought nothing.

In previous posting, you said "long long time ago." same here. However, I
still remeber that summer in Taiwan is very hot and HUMID. I have been in
Chicago, New York City, and Boston, which is not himid in summer. I often
imagine how American GIs (soldiers) felt in Vietnam.
Cape Cod potao chip is CRUNCHY. But these days, one can't have too much
fried food. For me, I want to live 100 years.
The correct spelling is "tortilla."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortilla
However, tortilla is a flat bread made of corn by aborigines in Latin
America (remember: corn was first grown there but hundreds of years ago,
cornd were small and varied in color, like those you had on Thanksgiving).
What you meant is "tortilla chip," which is one of my favorites.
A car is a poor choice nowadays, due to sharp reduction of tariff. But I
still doubt the qualify of automobiles made in taiwan. I don't drive anyway.
So I know nothing about cars.

I know nothing about cars or those in Taiwan. What about high-end cars like
Lexus or Infiniti? I don't know if those cars have service centers in Taiwan
. In other words, I don't know if one can buy spare parts to replace.
Just for your view. Tesla started maiking all electric sports car called
Roadster, which mahufactures electric engines in Taiwan (everything else is
done elsewhere). Very expensive. Check it out.
Then, it takes months for a car to arrive by ship. You may be gone by that
time (and therefore can't claim tariff waiver for personal use).

You do know little about Taiwan. I guess you are thinking of Taiwan as of 30 years ago, or more.
Taiwan is one of the most important markets for Lexus (and for many luxury cars for that matter), even though the population is not large compared with many parts of the world. Taiwan was in fact one of the first markets in the world to launch Lexus
50 a few years ago. Of course LS460 is also available in Taiwan now.
Taiwan has quite a number of high-end cars. Lexus, BMW & Mercedes are everywhere and many people can afford it. The true high-end cars, from my point of view, would have to go to Porsche, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Maserati, Maybach, etc., and
cars have made their ways into the Taiwanese market as well.
