That is the title of a report today in BBC Chinese. I don't know what the
news means. Food price has increased around the world, including China. In
the past week, many nations have banned export of rice to ensure supply to
their own people. These I know. But I still don't know why Hong Kong people
rush to buy rice. Do they anticipate shortage? Or do they anticipate price
inc | c**i 发帖数: 6973 | 2 I want to tell you that before I put up the original posting, I had read
wire reports (including Bloomberg) on this. Nobody explained why the news
meant.
It just happened that yesterday, I read the latest issue of The Economist, a
weekly published in both London and US. There is a relevant article titled
"Rice and politics; Needed: a new revolution" and dated Mar. 27, 2008. The
article did not talk about HK, Taiwan, China or US, but may help you
understand the situation. |
