黄梅仲夏,棋子灯花,转眼前又是一个毕业的季节。无论是一个即将走出象牙宝塔、迈
向社会大学的学子,还是一个已经初识人间百态、游走商场企业的职者,我们希望为广
大校友提供一个互相近距离接触与交流的舞台,相信在彼此理念与经历的碰撞中,可以
在茫茫职海中点燃一座座新的航标。
为此,天津大学(北洋大学)北美校友会特举办 “北洋论坛”之“职海导航”。届时
,我们将邀请在学术、金融、IT、工程、化学制药等各个领域的资深天大校友及各界友
人作为活动的嘉宾,与大家一起探讨各专业职场的发展趋势、交流工作经验、传授工作
秘诀, 为广大的职业发展打造更好的平台。

论坛嘉宾介绍:
David Cai
Mr Cai is Vice President in a multinational investment banking and
securities firm. Prior to his current position, he has served as Vice
President in Morgan Stanley for 10 years. His expertise encompasses computer
and financing. He received his MS from City College of New York, and his BS
in 1983 from Tianjin University.
Tom Gan
Dr. Gan is a Director in Options Group's New York office, a leading
recruiting firm for Wall Street. He primarily focuses on recruiting talents
for Wall Street investment banks and hedge funds, such as traders,
quantitative analysts, risk managers and developers. Before joining Options
Group, Dr. Gan worked for Bank of America as quantitative analyst
supporting credit strategy. Dr. Gan also worked for Major League Baseball
supporting game data statistics for more than 4 years. Dr. Gan started his
career as a Senior Research Scientist of Schering-Plough, a major
pharmaceutical company.
Dr. Gan Received his PhD in Chemistry from University of Wisconsin, and his
BS in Chemistry from Nanjin University.
Amy Guo
Dr. Guo is the Executive Director & Head of the Novartis Oncology Health
Economics and Outcomes Researdh (HEOR) Department in the US. She has many
years of HEOR experience gained within a variety of settings, including
academia, non-profit research organizations, and the pharmaceutical industry
. Her HEOR experiences span several therapeutic areas, including oncology
and hematology, women’s health, renal care/dialysis, diagnostic imaging,
and diabitus care. Prior to Novatis, Dr. Guo has served as the Head of
Global Health Economics, Outcomes & Reimbursement in the Imaging Business
Unit at Bayer Schering Pharmaceuticals, and Director of US Health Economics
and Outcomes Rsearch at Berlex Lab.
Dr. Guo received her PhD in Economics from Northwestern University in
Evanston, Illinois, with a concentration in healthcare economics and
econometrics. She received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from Tianjin
University, Tianjin, China, and her MA in Economics from University of
Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.
Michele Xuemei Guo
Dr. Guo is a Senior Principle Scientist in Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. She has
over 10 years of experience on Analytical R&D for drug development, and
years of leadership experience in Analytical R&D and cGMP lab. She has
worked on a number of Investigational New Drug (IND) application and New
Drug Application (NDA) for global filings. Before joining Pfizer, she had
worked as a Principle Research Scientist in Wyeth for 10 years.
Dr. Guo received her PhD in Environmental Science from New Jersey Institute
of Technology, and Bachelor of Engineering from Tianjin University.
Holly Ying Li
Ms Li is the Partner at Anova Law Group. Her practice focuses on
intellectual property prosecution, litigation counseling and management, and
licensing in a variety of advanced technologies. She also counsels clients
on strategic alliance, technology acquisitions and market entry strategies.
Ms. Li has over 20 years of experience in the IP field. Shortly after school
, she became one of the youngest patent licensing managers at the
Intellectual Property Business Unit of Lucent Technologies (Alcatel-Lucent),
during which she worked closely with Bell Labs. She started her law firm
experience as an international summer associate at the international law
firm Baker & McKenzie’s office in HK, then joined Cooper & Dunham, one of
the oldest IP firms in New York. In 2005, Ms. Li joined Quinn Emanuel
Urquhart & Sullivan (then Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges), a major
US trial firm and engaged in patent litigation on behalf of Asian clients.
In 2007 and 2008, Ms. Li served as a Senior IP Counsel to head up an IP
group at an entertainment technology development company based in California
, where she successfully represented the company in winning several
contentious and non-contentious proceedings including patent invalidations
and appeals, litigation, and arbitration in various Chinese judicial and
administrative forums.
Ms. Li received her JD from Rutgers University School of Law, and BS in Opto
-Electronic Engineering from Tianjin University. She is also holding State
Bar of both New York and New Jersey.
Jiansheng John Tang
Dr. Tang is the Director Pharmaceutical R&D at Teva Pharmaceuticals. He has
over 10 years of leadership experience in drug product and process
development. Before joining Teva Pharmaceuticals, he has served as Director
of Formulation and Product Development in Mylan Inc, a pharmaceutical
company, for over 8 years. He has worked for Procter & Gamble as the senior
research scientist for over 5 years. He is the principle inventor of more
than 30 US patents and patent applications and has over 50 publications.
Dr. Tang received his PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Iowa State
University, and MS in Organic Chemistry from Nankai University.
Ying-li Tian
Dr. Tian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical
Engineering at the City College of New York. After she held an associate
professor position in National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition at the
Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, Dr. Tian joined the Robotics
Institute in Carnegie Mellon University as a postdoctoral fellow in 1998.
From 2001 to 2008, Dr. Tian was a research staff member at IBM T. J. Watson
Research Center. She was one of the inventors of the IBM Smart Surveillance
Solutions (SSS) product and led the video analytics team. She received
several IBM Invention Achievement Awards and the IBM Outstanding Innovation
Achievement Award due to her contributions to IBM SSS. Dr. Tian has
published more than 110 papers in journals and conferences and has filed
about 30 patents. Her current research focuses on a wide range of computer
vision problems from motion detection and analysis, to human identification,
facial expression analysis, and video surveillance. She is an area editor
for Computer Vision and Image Understanding and a senior member of IEEE.
She received her PhD from the Department of Electronic Engineering at the
Chinese University of Hong Kong and her BS and MS from Tianjin University.
Yanhui Wang
Dr. Wang is Founder and Director at Top Robin LLC. She has 15 years of
experience in market risk management, financial markets, financial
engineering and analytics, derivatives and structured products in credit and
equity. Prior to Top Robin, Dr. Wang has served as Executive Director in JP
Morgan Chase, heading Market Risk Management for North American Credit
Markets.
Dr. Wang received her PhD in Operations Research from Georgia Institute of
Techology, MS in Industrial Engineering from University of Arizona, and her
MS in Systems Engineering from Tianjin University.
Harry Jiannan Wang
Dr. Wang is currently the assitant professor of Management Information
Systems (MIS) and a faculty member of Entrepreneurial Studies in the Lerner
College of Business and Economics at University of Delaware. His research
interests involve business process management, business intelligence,
services computing, and enterprise systems. He has published several
research articles in these areas in journals and conferences, such as
Decision Support Systems, Journal of Database Management, Information
Technology and Management, International Journal of Web Services Research,
Journal of Information Systems and E-Business Management, Communication of
the AIS, IEEE IT Professional, International Conference on Information
Systems (ICIS), International Conference on Web Services (ICWS), and
Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS). He is also the Primary
Investigator for two research projects on process mining and process
optimization funded by JPMorgan Chase.
Dr. Wang received Ph.D. in MIS from Eller College of Management at the
University of Arizona and B.S. in MIS from Tianjin University, China.
Zanjun Lu
Mr. Lu is senior Software Engineer at Fujitsu Network Communcations
Yisong Chen, Organizer
Dr Chen is currently the president of Tianjin (Peiyang) University Alumni
Assocation in North America. He is also the managing partner at Pallas
Global Captital LLC. Before he started his company, he as served as vice
president in Merrill Lynch, Deutsch Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston. He
received his MS and PhD in Systems Science & Engineering from University of
Pennsylvania, and BS in Electrical Engineering from Tianjin University.
Peng Yuan, Workshop Presenter
Mr. Peng is a scientist at Innophos. Prior to Innophos, he has worked/
interned in Kraft Food, Wonton Foods, PepsiCo and Campbell Soup. He received
MS in food science from Rutgers, and his BS in food science and business
