All vehicles would be required to equip the technology within four years
from regulators finalizing a rule, and half within two years. The National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a 90-day comment period for the
proposed rule Tuesday, pushing a final decision to sometime during the
incoming Trump administration. Auto makers would be required to standardize
the technology so all vehicles speak the same language when talking to one
another under the proposed rule, regulators said. |
