Trading in Allied was halted Jan. 14 before the open of the NYSE MKT in New
York, where the shares are listed under the symbol ANV. The stock did not
resume trading until about 15 minutes after Allied released its statement
about the China Gold announcement around 1 p.m., according to Thom. Trading
was also halted in Toronto, where the shares are also listed under ANV, at 8
:50 a.m. The stock resumed trading at 1:15 p.m.
In the end, the stock rose 31 cents to $4.62 in the U.S. trading, on volume
of about 17.5 million shares. That was more than four times Allied's average
daily volume over the past three months. On Wednesday, the stock fell 2
cents to $4.60.
