The mis-calculation on the capital ratio really pissed off me.
Also considering BAC still has large bills to pay for all legal issues,
I would say C is better than BAC for the following reasons.
1. C is still more undervalued than BAC, based on the tangible book value. C
is $55, and BAC is around $14.
2. C capital return plan was not approved. Actually C has a lot of money
available. It started using money to redeem the notes/preferred shares,
which has around 5-7% rate. The interest payout saved from the notes will
contribute to profit in the next few quarters.
3. C has much small legal bill to pay, probably only 1/4-1/5 of the penalty
that BAC has to deal with.
The only thing C is not uncertain(I am not using worse) comparing to BAC
is international expose. Actually, international business long term is good.
Overall US market is mature, has much less opportunities than emerging
market. Of course, emerging market has risk too. So, it's hard say it's
better or worse than BAC in terms of this.
I am waiting for bigger "sell in the May" event to buy C at around $45. | m******p
