The long term prospect of these two companies are almost perfectly
determined by the congress. Either the congress decides to dismantle both
companies, in which case equity investors are completely wiped out, or they
would vote to restore these companies and give equity holders 10's of
billions of wealth, pretty much all taken from the taxpayers.
Which of these two are likely to come true is completely up to each "
investor/gambler" to figure out (I personally think the congress won't risk
its public image by going the second route.) However, don't fool yourself
into believing there is a middle ground. There is none. |
