You need a certain collateral to make the "borrowing" happen.
when you use margin account, you are borrowing cash from your brokerage
You need a certain collateral to it happen, too.
You cannot use "borrowed" equity as collateral to "borrow" cash, or verse

stock or cash.
case 1: long 200k stocks, u practically borrow 100k cash from ur broker to
buy stocks.
case 2: short 100k worth of stocks, u borrow 100k stocks from ur broker and
sell them in exchange of 100k cash. these cash are now at your discretion.
which leads to case 3: you use that 100k cash you got from short plus the
original 100k you have to buy 200k stocks.

可是如果１０万元的帐户，LONG了１０万元后，好象就不能SHORT了，这又是怎么回事
？LONG了２０万以后，当然就更不能SHORT了，为什么？LONG的POSITION不能用来担保吗

in any case, at the time of borrowing, you can borrow 100k worth of cash or
stocks. just stocks a bit tricker because you borrow stocks, sell stocks,
and get 100k happen at once, now you end up with 200k cash entirely up to
your discretion.
what you owe to broker changes daily when you borrow stocks. it doesn't
change if you borrow cash. what always change is your account total value.
and broker will keep your account total value in check to make sure you can
pay them back without difficulties by closing your long/short position or
existing cash.
margin call comes when you equity drops to 30% and broker think you may "
default". |

and long 200k, you are still at 50% margin, I dont see why not.
or maybe the other id is right about the 100k cash from short position is
not up to you discretion.

无非是合同规定的。
我有long short position同时存在的时候，不过没有过你这么生猛的玩过。
