support has no future. It takes a lot of money to promote microblogs and earn
eyeballs on the celebrity model. SINA will also suffer more
advertisement loss as both the general economy decelerates and the real
estate market goes down in particular.
SINA is desperate in certain sense. It faces stiff competitions from all directions and has little edge. Thus comes the acquisition move. Not sure how investors will respond.
Tencent has the potential to emerge as the dominant social network site in mainland China and the expectation is reflected by its performance on the HKSE. It has major moves recently strengthening its social network functions.
