Ideal for basic data and statistical analysis in teaching, research and self
-paced learning, the SAS University Edition will now provide easy access to
SAS foundational technologies, at no cost, with a smaller footprint and
shorter downloads. Students and professors will now be able to access SAS
software in the cloud or on their device based on their individual work
environment. |

good point.
I don't think SAS can beat R in universities. It is not a matter of cost.
Actually the problem does not lie in the language itself - it is the
community that matters. R dominates the academic; SAS flirts FDA.
I once asked one bancova student to develop a few types of Table Programs
using R that are usually done in SAS for FDA submission and it is so easy.
But so what? FDA will never let us submit Tables using R. I know a group
of UVA researchers produce the same tables as SAS does using R, but I'm not
sure of their area of usage.
R and SAS live in two worlds, they talk, they help each other ...
