Senior SAS Healthcare Analytics Consultant - Cypress, CA (Job ID 544881)
Description
The Senior SAS Healthcare Analytics Consultant is part of the Medical
Informatics Department that researches and investigates business problems
through quantitative analysis using healthcare cost, utilization, and
outcomes analytics. This position conducts the ongoing presentation of
analysis results and findings to support healthcare business operations,
performance and improvement. The reporting team for this position has a
focus on developing a variety of reporting tools to support the work that is
performed by the UnitedHealth Clinical Services Department supporting the
Clinical Quality Improvement, Appeals & Grievances, and Regulatory &
Compliance teams. There are also a variety of reporting tools that are
developed to support a variety of UnitedHealth Groups' initiatives, state
and regulatory compliance measures outcomes, and periodic client specific
performance measures/outcomes. The preferred location for this position is
in our Cypress, CA office, but telecommuting may be considered for a strong
candidate.
The Senior Healthcare Economics Consultant will perform critical research
and investigation of key business problems. This Senior Consultant will
perform quantitative analyses of utilization and health cost data, estimates
and forecasts. This individual will drill down the data to investigate
sources of variations. Applying phenomenal analytical skills, this role is
responsible for developing and improving quantitative data analytics and
setting performance targets for the enterprise. As a subject matter expert,
the Senior Consultant will interpret and analyze clinical data from various
sources and recommend best approaches for its consolidation.
Primary job responsibilities include:
• Performs data cleaning, preparation, reporting, and analysis
• Leverages existing and ad-hoc reporting capabilities to identify
trends in health plan performance, opportunities for clinical operations
improvements as it relates to regulatory compliance monitoring
• Provides consultative advice and interprets and summarizes
analytical findings
• Researches, identifies, and implements new approaches and methods
to facilitate medical cost management
• Collaborates within and outside the Medical Informatics
department, UHC, and UHN to lead the development and continuous improvement
of methods, processes, and technologies to enhance healthcare quality,
affordability, outcomes, and member/provider experience
• Generally work is self-directed, and serves as a resource and
mentor to others
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics,
preferably analyzing clinical data
• Industry experience in SAS programming (PC or UNIX)
• Proficient with MS Excel
• Experience analyzing very large datasets and working with
relational databases
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast paced environment
• Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Ability to work with minimal guidance
