想问问统计现在的工作行情。自己看到最多的还是银行和药厂,但是这两行还需要一些

market:
A) Pharmaceutical
B) Non-pharmaceutical (Banking, Insurance, Marketing analysis, Quality
Control, etc).
Where to go? IT depends on your life goal and what you like?
1) In pharma, you will work on projects covering experiment designs, data
analysis under strict government regulations; your income will be stable a
few years later but may not be as high as those in Wall Street; your work
areas might be limited to a few spots in US.
2) In non-pharma, you will work on projects most often focusing on data
modeling; it is relatively to get in for fresh students (depending on who
you are); your income might be high comparatively; and you can find a good
job in any big developed metropolitans.
Yet, life is not just at your own choice – the industry side makes their
own choices too.
Three factors affect your luck and fate:
1) Type of Degree: if you have a Ph.D, you can choose both “boss”. Yet
, banking is more welcome to the fresh graduates than pharma who used to be
friendly 10 years ago but not as friendly as they were. Yet, you can still
be hired as a data analysis with a master degree.
2) Years of Experiences: Pharma like that. That is why hiring managers
pile up with tons of resumes that claim to have more than 5 years of (
unverifiable) experiences, and that might not bring the authors even a
simple phone screening interview. As a graduate, you have no control but
work on more and more work related projects. Do NOT make fake resumes.
Never.
3) Where you live. Companies are now more careful to spend now than then
, for hiring. If you are local, they do not need to pay your travel
expenses for onsite interviews. Then you can easily get an onsite. If you
want a pharma, go to California, Boston, NC first; these places are heavily
loaded with pharmas.
The general feeling is that banking is easier to get in compared to pharma,
all GPA equal.
Then the question still remains: where to go?
You answer it by looking in and looking out. |

1) Go back to class notes to refresh memories of what you learnt at
classroom. Then try to relate these concepts to real life problems.
2) present these ideas to your friends, colleagues, or to the mirrors - 温故
知新 to present is a more modernized way of following our old wisdom.
3) relax .... |

My suggestion is to take a training on SAS, like bancova training program. I
am currently taking it and feel great about it, which is why I want to
share with you. |
