知道。有点不想念了。
背景是：国内生物医学工程和仪器本科，毕业后搞IT，来美国后念了 Bioinformatics
MS，现在念生统PhD。熟悉 C/C++，SQL，Java编程，SAS还可以，不过没做过什么大的
项目。基本上是Fresh。另外会用 STATA，SPSS等。

发帖数: 343 | 2 没钱的phd。。。你开始怎么不问系里钱的事情，而且很多很好的生统系都很有钱，和
medical center连着，很多project，统计系的人都去做，你怎么也可以拿两封推荐信
去个很好的学校拿钱念啊，如果找工作的话，你有it的经验，可以去找it的工作，或者
找生统相关的。 |

发帖数: 11146 | 4 找个生统硕士那个级别的工作足够了。另外你也可以捡起老本行做IT。IT比统计/生统/
bioinfo挣钱多。

直接去IT工作就好了, 挣钱比做统计的多多了.

发帖数: 333 | 7 如果对科研还感兴趣，一定要读完PhD。这个是你以后搞科研的最起码要求。
如果对科研豪无兴趣，再继续就是浪费时间了，自己也觉得难受呀。而且楼主现在这种
情况可以不断的找工作，找到合适的为止，没有时间和身份上的压力，因为是在校学生
，有这个优势，可以善加利用。 |

PhD 基本适合两类人:
1. 准备做professor或者research工作的.
2. 准备一辈子做专业技术的人.
如果这两条都不满足, 就别浪费时间都博士了.

发帖数: 333 | 11 For those who didn't get the degree, also few regrets. Not everyone "suffers", while it depends on how you define "suffer". There are two kinds of people around: people who are only interested in the degree, people who are interested in the career and research related to the degree.
One can do lots of things during 4 to 5 years. More over, how many 5 years does one have?
So to follow one's heart is always the rule of thumb when facing challenging choices like this.

at the degree. The consequence could be a disaster. PhD requires self-
motivation and self-driven character. Several of them feel really
frustrated in their 3rd, 4th or even 5th year. I know one student has to
graduate at the end of his 7th year with no compelling academic record.
Without a strong passion towarding the research, one can easily be lost
especially when he is required to think on his feet and do all things |
