发帖数: 309 | 1 The old style/ traditional innovation in backyard garage is gone?
In last decades, many inventions was done by engineers, they got ideas like
"flash light" and make prototype in their backyard garage.
Later on, some put into small scale production and made name of a famous
company through century.
Many of us in this forum just get tired of the "glass-ceiling" as employee
in big companies. Me too. Really feel over-enthusiastic of my work, but lack
of chance or courage to step out of this 'comfort zone'...
Yet many concerns come to this topic, but firstly I wonder if the old style
of invention is out of date, esp. the barriers as following:
- Modern patenting system, high yearly cost for personal disclosure and
grant.
- Well organized R&D in big companies, seems every details has been
researched, or the area has been patched by their patent coverage.
- Marketing strategy plays much bigger role than the product itself in
current world economy.
_ Trends nowadays are focusing on IT and electronics, e.g. facebook, iPhone,
web sales like ebay & taobao. The ways of creation of GE, Mercedes, BOSCH,
Ford seems dying.
On the other side, China is deemed not a place to this topic?
My 5 cents thoughts, appreciate any instructive opinions, which leads to the
bright end of the tunnel. | b******y
发帖数: 9224 | 2 每个时代有每个时代的代表产业。1900年代物理学大发展。商业上有铁路，60年代计算
机技术兴起，70,80年代是pc和软件,2000年是互联网，2010年是移动互联网，比如说。
所以说，不是没有发明创造了，而是新的发明创造的领域变了。如果你没有站到新技术
突破的前沿，自然会觉得都是巨头开始控制整个产业，个人没法去创业。
我觉得车库创业会永远存在的。其实就是站在巨人肩膀上，将各种技术组合后，会有新
发明。比如说，当年的Apple, 也没有自己啥都做，也没有发明创造半导体啥的，但
Steve Woz有效利用了当时基本元件，组装了非常efficient和low cost的Apple II. 这
个就是创新。
所以，不是没法创新了，而是你需要知道where to look, 找出哪些地方需要创新。
虽然大公司人力物力雄厚，但你可以不去做操作系统，你可以不去做infrastructure的
东西，你可以站在大公司的肩膀上去做创新。 | b******y
发帖数: 9224 | 3 中国抄袭严重，而且没有很好的保护知识产权，这个对于创新是最大的问题。这个是国
内的素质有待提高的问题，和教育的问题。比如说，少点应试教育，多点
entrepreneurial的探索教育为好。 |
