Crazy Coin went on sale for free on December 6th, 2010. After less than a
day, on December 7th. We checked App Ranking via Applyzer.com and AppViz
software. The result is significant:
1. In United States, the rank is up by 409;
2. Rank is up in 15 countries;
3. In certain country, the rank is within top 100;
Most user can only see top 100 in each category. I am talking about top
category, such as "Game", "Utility", etc. Therefore, getting into top 100
means huge downloading (and thus huge profit for the developer) for an App.
Crazy Coin has been featured in a subcategory, such as "Game->Kids", or "
Game->Arcade" for more than 12 days. However, it is only visible when user
browse into the subcategory, and click on "view all". In addition, this only
applies when users browse App Store on a computer via iTunes. It doesn't
help when users browse via iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Of course, another reason that ranking is super important for App sales is because the search function is not sufficient at all in iTunes.
Crazy Coin will continue to be free for 2 days, hopefully the rand will
sustain for a while after the price changed back to normal.

2000 downloads/day will make your app top 100 in any subcategory in most
countries
80k downloads/day will make your app top 10 in overall
app store update ranking every couple hours, the hourly download rate also
counts.
