products on the market. But if you talk about hosted parental control
solution (software as a service, SaaS), actually I haven't found one, it is
quite a niche right now, at least I think so :-).
The data mining by using
those data for parental control is also not new, http://www.privacydigest.com/2009/09/07/webmonitoring%20software%20gathers%20data%20kid%20chats,
however they use the desktop software to collect that

traffic passes through hosted server and with an agent in the users' machine:
we could do 2 things:
1. do the data mining for internet user behavior and sell the marketing data
(doesn't need the agent at users' machine)
2. push the targeted ads to the end point. (need the agent at the users'
machine), this will happen in some form more or less right now, it might be
more useful when personal computer is also used as mobile de

webpages to be filtered. They may just be forced to do that.
BTW, I also have an idea about collecting internet users' browsing habits,
on a voluntary base. It is like an online dating site. But ideas are trivial
. What is important is that how to turn an idea into a profitable product. I
do not have any experience in running a start-up. The first question is
that how to build a reliable team? Are you willing to share some exp

however I think that most of parents want their children's web traffic get
filtered and monitored. I almost think that the hosted filtering should be
free (however it is hard for a small start up though), and plus parents
could monitor there kids's web traffic on web and get alert when something
undesirable happens, a lot of parents might jump in.
