Katz stated one of the main problems with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (now
Vail Resorts at Jackson Hole) is the abundance of steep, technical terrain.
“Families–especially rich gapers–do not want to come to Jackson Hole
because they do not have the ability to ski most of the terrain,” Katz said
in the release. “The effort to grade parts of the terrain under the Casper
chair was a good start and attractive for intermediates, but in order to
attract people who truly cannot ski but will spend the equivalent of a
college tuition on food and lodging, the mountain needs to be much, much
flatter.”
