around in the snow with my friend's dogs... To protest against the elements
I wore a pair of decent looking "North Face" ski pants I bought from China.
The material looks sturdy enough...
Then my dog jumped up and her claw went down the ski pants... and went
slashing through it like it was nothing. I guess the cold made this crap
material very brittle.
The moral of the story is: Don't buy fake ski pants from China |

China skiing. After a mooring skiing and falling, he was shivering and
chattering so bad, because his pants were wet through and through. |

engrish not powderful enuf.
so thinking of going 2 routes -
1) either buy something cheap, knowing that after a season or 2 it will be
pretty beat up/ripped by scratching against ice, rocks, trees, etc, or...
2) buy something expensive and SUPPOSELY more durable - so it will last
more than 1 season, of course 1 bad encounter with the side of a rock could
mean $300 down the drain...
so what do you guys do? route 1, or route 2?

you can get descent waterproof for not that much money.

bought a pair of descente pants last season. the waterproof and warmth worth
the invest. i do have a few 1-2 inch cuts on it probably caused by trees
but I can say the duct tape fix works well after 10 days of using.

发帖数: 472 | 10 one big advantage of a reputable brand is the company standing behind. they
often have better repair policy or customer service, if you contact them.
That's also one cause of its higher price.
There are stores specialized in repair/clean technical shells. They can do a
good job.

发帖数: 1632 | 13 there isn't one brand that's the "best" - plenty of good Spyder gears out
there, but also plenty of pretty crappy ones - I had a pair of Spyder gloves
that literally fell apart after 2 seasons - $60 gone.
A good pair of quality pant is a bit more important than jacket imo, so far
I'm very pleased with the quality of even my low-end Descente jacket, it's
very sturdy. I'll check out their pants as well. thanks :) |
