Dear Caryn,
I am writing to express my extreme concern over one of your publications:
A Trump win could help China. That’s why this banner flew over Seattle by
Amy Radil. The content in that article is libelous towards our Chinese
American community.
In the photo of the article, the banner clearly says "Chinese Americans",
but the author did not talk with any Chinese Americans. Instead, she found
an international student from China, and use the quote from that person to
represent the opinion of Chinese Americans. Consequently, the article's
statement that some Chinese Americans' support for a Trump presidency is to
help China is untrue and will do harm to our community. The publication of
such untrue and damaging statement constitutes a libel offense.
I am sure that is not the intention of your station and of NPR. Hence, I
respectfully request a retraction of the article, or our community has to
seek other venues of remedy.
