西雅图市的名称来自原住民酋长希尔斯（Sealth）。当最早的殖民者于1850年前后抵达
此地时，希尔斯酋长曾给予他们保护和友谊。西雅图的拓荒者们，尊重这群长久居住在
艾略特湾（Elliott Bay）一带的度瓦米许（Duwamish）原住民族，就直接将这块移民
地的新生地命名为酋长希尔斯（Sealth）的名字，这中间因为一些口语误传，最后便成
为Seattle（西雅图），这就是西雅图市名的由来。
Issaquah 来自印第安语, meaning either "the sound of birds", "snake", or "
little stream".
Sammamish, 来自印第安语，Their name is variously translated as "meander
dwellers""[2] or "willow people."
又有一说，According to Hitchman, the name Sammamish is derived from samma,
meaning “the sound of the blue crane” and mish, meaning “river”. The
name may have originated with the Snoqualmie Tribe -- some tribal members
once lived along the lake near the bottom of Inglewood Hill -- but this has
