trillion Facebook impressions across thousands of campaigns. Previously, he
was an executive at Yahoo! working on data warehousing initiatives. His
research has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Fox,
NPR, and other outlets.

Data Mining OS
Speaker: Ying Li, Chief Scientist, Concurix
Abstract: Over the last 30 years, software operating systems have evolved
slowly. In the meantime, hardware has advanced rapidly. By revisiting the
fundamental assumptions about how software should run, the Concurix
Operating System (CXOS) will run on the metal with new scheduling and memory
algorithms, taking full advantages of concurrency and functional language,
being a true distributed OS. Our early wins show speed twice as fast on
Erlang web applications running on Linux based on-premise servers, and over
ten times faster than hosted virtualized Linux.
Bio: Dr. Li is a leading practitioner in big data and large-scale knowledge
discovery, data mining and analytics. Dr. Li is a pioneer in internet scale
data mining, applying her extensive academic and industry research expertise
at Computer Research Institute of Montreal and to the first big data
analytics effort at Microsoft in 1998. She holds over 50 patents filed, has
collaborated with over 100 researchers and data scientists, and has built
and led world class data mining organizations of over 300 people. Dr. Li
received B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics from Peking University, Beijing,
China, and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia
, Vancouver, Canada. She is currently the Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of
Concurix Corporation, a new startup building high performance operating
systems for big data and big compute.

Bio: Dr. Zhaohui Tang spent 10 years at Microsoft, where he was in charge of
SQL Server Data Mining and then helped build its adCenter Lab and became
the Principle Program Manager for adCenter before becoming CEO of adSage in
2010. A native of Shanghai, he graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University
and then went on to get his PhD at the University of Versailles in France,
building an expertise in data mining and holding 25 U.S. patents. Tang is a
founder and owner of adSage and helped the company raise $20 million in
venture capital from SIG Asia and Meridian Capital.

Hong Zhang, Staff Tech Manager, Google
Hong Zhang manages multiple Google Apps enterprise products, such as Google
Sync, Mobile Device Management, Google Apps Connector, and had worked on
search infrastructure for realtime search system. Prior to Google, he had
worked on web search at Yahoo and Baidu. Before that, he also worked at Sun
Java division where he led the JVM port on Windows and Linux, and developed
JVM threading package and regular expression package.
George Zhu, Senior Development Manager , Amazon
George Zhu is a Senior Software Development Manager at Amazon, with focus on
helping third-party sellers succeed on Amazon platforms by providing
cutting-edge solutions in areas such as fulfillment, inventory management,
and business intelligence. Prior to Amazon he was a Senior Technical Program
Manager at HTC responsible for building e-commerce and content delivery
systems that combine the power of smart phones and cloud computing. Before
that he was a Program Manager at Microsoft and shipped various products in
Windows Server, Windows Client, and adCenter. He holds a MBA from
University of Washington, a Master of Computer Science from University of
Virginia, and a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Zhejiang University. |
