Title: Mobile Games in 2011: Why the Cloud Matters & How to Get it Done.
Speaker: Patrick Meehan, CTO of Zipline games
Abstract: The mobile world moves fast, and even though games with simple
play mechanics and short play sessions dominate app store sales, it's just
not enough any more to design a simple-to-play client, polish it to a fine
sheen and release it to the world. Nearly all the top-grossing titles make
use of a free to play model with in-app purchases and a steady stream of new
content. How can a small mobile development team build a complex client-
cloud game quickly and efficiently? Patrick Meehan talks about the
challenges he saw building a multi-million dollar geocaching app at
Groundspeak and how Zipline games, Harebrained Schemes, and Nay Games are
now using the Moai Platform to simplify, focus, and produce quality games
quickly.
Bio: Patrick has over twenty years of experience in game development. A
graduate of the first class of the DigiPen Institute, Patrick has worked at
Nintendo, Amaze Entertainment and Interactive Imagination. Patrick was a
founder of Tenacious Games and one of the creators of The Spoils collectible
card game. Prior to Zipline, Patrick led mobile development at Groundspeak
, and created their Webby award winning Geocaching application for iPhone.
7:20pm - 7:30pm, Talk
Title: Mobile Integration: Smartphones and Applications in the Vehicle
Speaker: Leon Hong, CTO and VP of Product Management of Airbiquity

provide in-vehicle services, information and entertainment.
Bio: Mr. Hong is responsible for the technical direction and development of
Airbiquity and its product offerings. For more than 12 years he has been
involved in product development and marketing of various key communications
technologies, including 2G and 3G wireless systems, broadband wireless data,
wireless radio protocols, IP telephony and networking, access networks, and
wireless local loop. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Hong held various
senior management and engineering positions developing products in several
telecommunications companies, including TruePosition, UTStarcom, RadioFrame
Networks, Broadstorm Telecom, AT&T Wireless and Nortel. Mr. Hong holds an M.
S. in telecommunications and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the
