现在夫妻俩加一个小孩在Colorado。 现在两人都工作， 如果搬的话，要靠LD一个人的
工资过一段，我再从新找工作。 Seattle 附近好玩的多么？工作机会多不多？ 够不够
culturly diversified? 有没有硅谷那么energetic? |

Diversity and food: Both places are very diversified. But Bay Area has more
Asian population for sure. Food and shopping wise, Bay Area is a better
place for Chinese to live with easy access to a lot of good Chinese
restaurants. On the other hand, there aren't that many good Chinese
restaurant in the greater Seattle area. You would have to drive to Vancouver
for that.
Weather: Seattle Summer is cooler than the Bay Area, however the winter is
harsher, with a lot of rain and sometimes even snow.
School: Schools are very competitive in the bay area, parents send their
kids to cram schools after their regular school hour to get ahead of other
kids. It feels just like in China!
Cost of living: Bay area is a lot higher, especially housing price; however
income is higher too.
Traffic: In the Bay Area you would expect traffic jam on 880, 680, Bay
Bridge, 101 during peak hours because there are too many cars. Seattle has
some stupid traffic jams during non-peak hours because of stupid road design.
I realized I got a lot lazier after moving to Seattle. Not willing to drive
a 20 minute drive to Seattle while when I was in the Bay Area it was very
common for me to drive for 40 - 60 minutes to San Jose for some good Chinese
food. Maybe it's because the weather is bad in Seattle and the parking
situation is horrible at Seattle downtown... |

过呢，可以先去三番住两年，被加州“蹂躏”过之后，再搬来西丫头，就彻底断了住加
州的念头了。
华人好像大多数都有加州情节，不试一下，会觉得遗憾。也说不定就喜欢那里乐。

西雅图的最大缺点是冬天日照少，整天都是阴阴的，下午四点多就天黑了。让人感觉很
郁闷，所以咖啡热卖。但是夏天很好很凉快，尤其今年夏天，超过90度的天数一只手就
能数过来，晚上要盖薄被，晚上九点才落日。
2个小时有滑雪场。 |

要去哪儿还是看你自己的喜好了。加州和西雅图都有滑雪的，西雅图附近最近的滑雪场
半个多小时就到了。

硅谷- 每天都是太阳，有最好的高中，大学，消费高 硅谷 离 三番近
房价太贵
斯亚图- 一半下雨，有雪 方便化学，消费相对低 西雅图 离 温哥华近
房价便宜
things in common： 2边都是 无聊的地方
如果一辈子不打算买房 另外 为了 孩子的 将来去最好的 高中 大学 去 硅谷

基本都指标很低，而且基本都很缺钙，另外听说seattle地区乳腺癌的发病率全美国都
差不多是最高的，不知道什么原因。不过这个地方总的来说还是不错的，要吃中国菜也
有挺好吃的地方，可以玩儿的地方也挺多的，自然景观不错。 |

don't really get to choose, will have to take whatever offer I can get
when the time comes.
But I'm leaning towards seattle because housing is slightly more
affordable and I don't mind the weather. I really want a house with a
big garage/shop where I can work on cars and build stuff. Not really
into the super hectic start-up lifestyle. If a good idea hits me, I
will work on it myself and try to start something small first, so the
talents in CA don't concern me.
But I'm EE and more into telecom type stuff, and there doesn't seem to
be many telecom companies in WA for someone like me.

的155，基本没有fluffy powder, tree skiing也不如vail，但是有big mountain的感觉

发帖数: 2443 | 38 speaking of being old, I've always wondered how older EE guys fare in
the workplace. EE types don't typically do a lot of coding, and writing
device drivers and such doesn't require quite as much brain power as
some of the stuff that software developers with a CS background may do,
unless the interface is tricky and you need to glue shit together with
assembly or something like that.
So I guess EE guys have an edge as they get older because experience is
probably more important and thus highly valued for their line of work.
Is that really the case for older engineers?
