conserved (photon has no charge), which is not possible.
I guess what he means is that no FREE electrons generated, but still,
electrons are indeed generated, such as:
1. Photoelectrical effect, electrons are generated but escape out of the
material.
2. holes generated in valence bands, electrons excited up to some deep
acceptor levels and get trapped, so still no FREE electrons.
