Galerkin projection is one of the fundamental ideas in
finite element analysis. But certainly it has wider
application than that.
The idea is to enforce the orthgonal condition for
error (defined as U_accurate-U_approximate) with certain
basis function (shape function ...). The orthgonal condition
is usually defined as =0.
