Basic Physics: A Self-Teaching Guide by Karl F. Kuhn
This is a good book for self-learners, with lots of questions and
problems. You don't have to know a lot of math, this book keeps the
math optional.
Fear of Physics: A Guide for the Perplexed by Lawrence M. Krauss
The author taught "Physics for Poets" at Yale. This is a good fun
nonmathematical introduction to modern theoretical physics, including
scaling laws and gauge theories.
