几千年以后的人再倒退也不可能恢复帝制. 独裁加冕是有可能, 但是无
论如何深受民主思想熏陶的社会是不可能凭空冒出个贵族阶层, 居然农
奴都出来了 (一千年后还用人耕地? 还会有人屈辱到此地步?). 书里有
典型的日本式对妇女的歧视及对白人的崇拜.
2. 战争
怎么看都是低科技的人海战术. 文章里多次吹嘘舰艇多少, 动用人员多
少, 在战斗中却没有一丝一毫觉到兵力的作用. 现代的人都已经非常了
解兵贵精不贵多, 致力发展军工科技. 几千年以后的人类应该更懂得这
一点吧. 怎么还会蠢得本末倒置? 书里多次提到肉博战, 居然连一只机
器人都没看到. 怎么看这一千年后的人的体质还是和现在一样, 居然还
用战斧! faint! 里面居然有一段是脱了军靴以免走路发出声音的一段,
不能不说是作者想象力贫乏的见证.
3. 医药
书里多次提到癌症都可以治愈却治不了感冒. 作者的常识也太差了一点.

我觉得小说写的还可以. 别拿科学来衡量它嘛, 当是一个科幻背景的小说.
我玩过4代, 挺好玩的 :)

they have the Force in star wars, without special abilities, it's
suicide to use ax against laser guns.
but usually not deadly.
he's the emperor, not some normal people. he has the technology
and resources of a star empire at his disposal, they should do
much better than that.

tech 怎么equal啊
这段确实属于败笔
不用机器人可以解释
肉搏战中避免使用枪也有解释(有一种会爆炸的杰服粒子)
但是战斧这种又大又笨的东西还是不实用
刀剑就好多了
如果运气够坏的话
作者要杀一个人不需要理由
事实上也没有理由认为大帝的寿命必然比平均值长
即使医学已经进步,有些病还是会死人的
(糟糕的是那些原来不那么容易死人的病可能反而成为严重的致命疾病,
因为医学研究往往不重视这类东西)

Galactic empire is not his creation. It has been all the way from Asimov's
foundation series to Frank's Dune, Starwars, CHung kuo.. etc.
it somehow makes sense that a one man control is more efficient than a
big, chaotic, quarrelsome(sp?) senate. Do you still remember the senate
in Phanton menace. what a mess.
I strongly agree with it! I have read quite some scifictions. The best ones
dont make a big deal out of more than 10 starships. Remember, starships

本来先不说别的，就这个故事是可以写得比现在象样得多的。可是那种
史诗般的气势根本一点都没有，有的只是平淡的叙事，单薄的人物塑造，
干瘪的总体感觉，唠叨的议论。那些明显的漏洞、弱智的战争就更甭提了。
白瞎了这个题材。

the number is too large to be believable.
If laser cannot be used, why not projectile weapons,
anything is better than ax or swords.

不完全是,战术远比数量重要,只有战术和技术都一样的时候数量才比较重要
但即使是那样,数量也还是没有运气重要//grin
剑还好,斧子只在很少的场合适合作战(本来就不是作为战斗兵器设计的,而剑是)
这就是田中大神的特点//grin
为什么他必须要careful?
很多当得了大帝的人都是不会careful也不能careful的
不然连大帝也别想当了//xixi
没错啊,平均寿命是会提高,但大帝只是一个特定的人而已

Tactic or luck may win a battle, but you need number/strength to
win a war. I think 田中 as a Japanese realized this too, i.e.
the empire did win in the end even though they don't have genius
like Yang.
I think Native Americans used ax as a weapon, they can throw it,
hehe, but it won't do any good in front of a machine gun.
Being careful means he won't die in a ski accident or be
assasinated, that his life comes to a natural end.

书中的民主政治很不健全. 一个议长感觉就是总统. 那么他便同时拥有立法
及执法权!!这和独裁有什么两样??同时各个议员应该是从其所在星球选出,
为什么会成为议长的附庸呢? 这说明作者对民主及其相关法制的理解欠缺.
Star Wars 里是有帝制, 但是它并没有在这上面花太多时间, 也没有像这本
书一样是在研讨制度的优劣.
帝国比同盟不知大了多少, 在研究经费上也就相应该高出不少. 像同盟这个
连经济都要垮台的国家, 如何能发展高科技呢? 但是书中两国的科技居然处
于相同水平而且几年下来都没有什么变化, 这不能不令人奇怪.
另一奇怪的事是帝国及同盟拥有非常想象的官僚及军队制度.

虽说感冒病毒年年都变, 但是万变不离其宗. 但是癌症的起因及结果可以说是
千变万化, 因病而论.
如果连癌症都能克服, 那么身体器官 (除大脑外) 大概也都可以 clone.

好的战术不是拿来win a battle的,杨的运气比较差
而且小莱的战术也不弱于他,帝国能独当一面的将领
很多而同盟也少,军士数其实并未发挥作用.同盟占
优时如不冒进,静待小莱和贵族门阀冲突,小莱跟本
没机会.
投斧和田中小说中的战斧根本是两回事.
即使用投斧,也不适合室内战,而舰上战大多数是属于室内战
机枪或者类似的大威力火器同样不适合室内战
手枪和短刀/剑要实用得多.
那可未必,大帝被刺杀的机会远比常人多,能当大帝的人多半我行我素
一般的危险标志或旁人的劝说未必管用,若是连这种劝说都会管用,多
半也当不上大帝.此外很多东西不是小心就能避免的,比如食物中毒,
这种可能会是因人而异的急症就算找一堆人试吃都未必能预防.
基本上说,对于两个都是战乱中的大国,寿星是会有但不会出现在显著
地位.战场上年轻人爬得快,只靠年资升官的老头未必能出人头地,而且
显然也不会有100岁的战斗兵,寿命虽然延长,但衰老未必能制止,也就是
说,虽然活到80岁的人很多,但是能当战斗兵的人还是在20岁左右.小说
中出现的人物年龄偏低是事实,但是这和平均寿命无关.除非技术进步到

strength, but i do think number is important.
if it is not, why don't one of them reduce
their fleet to a thousand ships so that they
can save some resources? tactics and luck

我不和你争这个,从大战术的角度来说你是对的,但是小说的作者军事素养显然不足
事实是一万个菜兵就是打不过一千精兵.只是小说中双方都没致力于精简军队.
不要寄太多的希望于高技术,除非这种技术本身的毁灭力足够高
在银英传中双方的技术差距确实很小,这个时候利用战术制造局部优势
是很容易的,特别是小说作者还定义了很多关键地形(回廊...)
只有最古的两军列阵战才会显示出数量优势,地形和战术抵消数量
几乎是所有战争中都有体现了.
(况且我实在不明白你想说什么,小说中双方并没有谁处于绝对的数量劣势)
回到小说的情节,是有火器射击时可能引起强烈爆炸才不用

Argh, I think we're wandering off topic already. The original post
criticized LoGH, saying it has too many ships. Then somebody else
pointed out that when both sides have similar technology, fleet size
is important, that's why there're so many ships in the novel, which
I agree.
There're specialized guns designed for these combat situations, going
back to use swords is just not feasible. Even in Starwars, only Jedi
knights can use swords, the rest guys just use guns since using a
sword effective

我的论点是那些庞大数量的军队即使在小说中也未能体现出优势
战术得当的话,制造局部优势是不难的
在小说提供的宇宙场景中实在没必要建立庞大数量的舰队.

Well, I guess an estimation based on # of planets and
population is possible, I never did it, so I'm not
sure if the strength of the fleet is realistic or not.
But if a cold war exists between the two sides, there
would be some kind of competition going on, one side
will try to match the number of the ships of the other
side, in the end they would have maximum number of ships
they can afford.

书中说了，双方都没能力开发全新的科技，而现有的技术
已经难以再有什么改进了。
