Silicon Valley Chinese Association Endorses
Steve Glazer for State Senate
East Bay, CA—The Silicon Valley Chinese Association today endorsed Steve
Glazer for State Senate.
"The Silicon Valley Chinese Association is endorsing Steve Glazer in the
March 17 State Senate special election in the East Bay,” said Silicon
Valley Chinese Association President Alex Chen. “Mr. Glazer thinks
independently and takes a balanced path on issues relating to the state. On
the contrary, his opponents are heavily influenced by special interest
groups, especially the unions.”
The Silicon Valley Chinese Association is the latest endorsement secured by
candidate Steve Glazer in the Senate District 7 special election.
“I am honored to receive this endorsement,” said Glazer. “Asian
Americans comprise 16 percent of my district and we need to continue to seek
ways to address the unique issues faced by this community.”
“We believe, among the contenders, Mr. Glazer holds a position that is most
in line with the interests of East Bay voters, including Chinese American
voters," said Chen. “He would be more willing to bravely face and resolve
the problems affecting California and Chinese Americans.”
Glazer has also picked up bi-partisan endorsements from former State
Controller Steve Westly, former Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero, former
San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed, retired Sheriff and Senator Dick Rainey, former
Congressman Bill Baker and retired Senate President Pro Tem David Roberti.
He also has been endorsed by over two dozen East Bay elected officials and
the Contra Costa Times.
“California and the East Bay are rich in diversity,” said Glazer. “We
need to nurture and support our local economies and public education so
everyone can benefit.”
Glazer currently serves as the Mayor of Orinda and a Trustee of the
California State University 23-campus system. During his tenure on the
Orinda City Council, Glazer has helped balance budgets while making
improvements to schools, libraries and roads.
State Senate District 7 includes the communities of Alamo, Antioch, Bay
Point, Bethel Island, Blackhawk, Brentwood, Byron, Clayton, Concord,
Danville, Diablo, Discovery Bay, Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Moraga,
Oakley, Orinda, Pacheco, Pittsburg, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Sunol and Walnut
Creek.
The primary will be held Tuesday, March 17.
Silicon Valley Chinese Association is a non-partisan organization comprised
of Asian American families, homeowners, small property owners, small
business owners, and blue collar and white collar taxpayers. Additional
