原来对文革还不太理解，今天算是有些感触了

Subject: [CUSD-discuss] Fact Check: Mercury news coverage Chris Zhang
All,
Since the Mercury news article came out, I feel compel to state a few
facts which was not included in the article.
When Chris Zhang told me he was going to run for school board and seek
my endorsement, I have done an extensive background check on his claims
of community service as I do not take my endorsement lightly. This is
what I found out:
- He didn't make any contribution when he served on CEEF board for a
brief period, in fact, I was told he was not engaged and missed many
meetings. You can simply contact CEEF folks to find out for yourself.
- Anyone can be a volunteer and member of Cupertino Rotary, this is not
a leadership position.
- United Asian American for Activism is not a real organization, my
understanding is that there are only a few people people involved
including Chris. The have done a few race-related protests related to
Jimmy Kimmel, No-SCA5, etc.
- Friends of Cupertino Transit - I have connected Chris with several of
my contacts a few years ago since they were all interested in working on
transportation issue. So far, there has been lots of talk but no
actions. In fact, Cupertino public safety commission already has a plan
to deal with traffic around school issue. It's not the responsibility of
school board member to tackle the issue. Chris made traffic around
school a top priority during the recent candidate forum.
- Shin Shin Education Foundation - key leaders include Steve Ting who is
a core backer of Chris, former CEEF board member.
I think that many endorsers are misled. At the end of the day, it's up
to the parent community to protect our kids. You can sign the petition
and reach out to school board member Ben Liao to rescind his endorsement
of Chris Zhang.
