r*****n 发帖数: 35 | 1 We have a Jetta (2004) about 80,000 miles
3 months back, we replaced the brakes at the dealer. After that, we heard
the Beep noise when pressing the brake sometimes.
Then one month back, sometimes the engine is totally shutdown when we stop
at stop sign or slow down for the redlight.
There is one time, the engine shutdown with engine light on, and we checked
at firestone, and they detected that something is wrong with oxygen sensor,
and replaced it.
After one week, we have the issues again, engine shutdown or there is beep
noise. Today, we went to another car shop, and this time the engine light is
on, and the technician found it is the "oxygen" sensor problem again. But
then they test drive it, and light is off, and everything is ok again
without changing anything
During this three month, we went to volkswagon dealer several times, but
they cannot do anything without any light on.
Now I don't know what I can do. Anybody has experiences like this or is able
to provide any information? I appreciate it. | a**y 发帖数: 335 | 2 What a coincidence! I also have a 2004 jetta and also had the same problem!
Yes, it's the oxygen sensor's problem. The sympton is when I stop at a
stop sign, the engine sometimes stops. I could restart the engine at first
few times, but it got worse every time. Later on, the engine would even
stop when I slowed down.
My mechanic shop (not a VW dealer) did a good job. They detected and fixed
it quite swiftly. The car has been running fine over 2 years since then.
If you want, I can give you their contact info. They are in San Mateo.
This jetta has given me too much trouble since I bought it. I won't
consider a VW anymore in the future. :) | r*****n 发帖数: 35 | 3 I send you a note. Please check your inbox. By the way, I have replaced the
oxygen sensor three weeks ago, but it still happens recently.
I will never buy VW in the future either.
Thanks.

| s*******e 发帖数: 4188 | 7 I had a nissan sentra many years back that had the same problem. The engine
would stop sometimes when I slow down or stop. Sometimes it's dangerous when
I was making a turn and suddenly lose power steering. I even learned to
start the car while the car was still running at 10-20 mph. :)
I've taken the car to the dealer's. They tried to adjust the engine idle
speed but that didn't seem to work. I got a guess that there was not enough
fuel injected for combustion. No one mentioned the oxygen sensor. But maybe
that's related?
Anyway, I think your problem is unrelated with the brake job. Also, 600+
seems too high for replacing oxygen sensor. I had it done in another car but
don't remember it to be that expensive. But that doesn't matter now.
Over the years, I learned that finding a reliable auto shop for your car is
very important. Hopefully, you can establish a relationship with them.
Dealer often is not the best place to go. | t*******t 发帖数: 1656 | 8 I just replaced oxygen sensor for a toyota. The dealer also charged me close
to $600 which I think is a rip off.
