发帖数: 1039 | 3 自己拿钱就算了。如果你自认是比较有vision的人，改改bylaw，让board有更多的权利
去把小区往自己喜欢的，更好的方向改. 要说好处，也许可以多雇你prefer的
contactor。
不过if you're just like most of us chinese here who does not know too much
about law/policy etc to understand what can do and what cannot do, and do
not have much leadership/management skills, just do what you can to be a
good 维持会 and avoid trouble.
I used to live in a community that HOA has too much power even for stuff
like fence height, size, color, lawn edge stone type etc, absolutely hate it
(HOA and home owner went to court couple of times, using our HOA money to
pay lawyer). But now I live in a community without HOA, my neighbor even
does not want to fix the fence (which sure will drive the community value
down) and nothing we can do, its not good either.

发帖数: 3046 | 4 i was curious about this a while ago during election and googled. it seems
these are all volunteers and there is no compensation for their job as
members. however, if they perform other jobs, say a handyman, then they can
be paid for that service. interestingly, i had thought board members are
like jvweihui in china but was surprised to find out that all these members
have very strong background, such as former ceo, cpa, professor etc. most
are retired and serving the community.

发帖数: 2495 | 5 我们的这个小区大部分可能是移民，都不爱参加HOA。我是随便好玩，参加了。结果本
来想不参加了。反而被挽留，说实在是没人了。让我继续。
