be on the June 5, 2012 ballot for voters in the City of San Jose in Santa
Clara County.
The measure is opposed by the city's public sector employee unions.
Kansen Chu voted against placing the measure on the ballot.
The San Jose City Council voted Tuesday (June 7, 2011) to accept a 10
percent cut in salary and benefits for the mayor and council members, amid a
$115 million budget deficit.
Kansen Chu opposed the recommendation to reduce council members’ salaries,
saying that it would limit the talent pool and attract mostly people who are
wealthy. |
