Product Description
Spinnaker Planning Management System® empowers terminal operators to
increase cargo volume and reduce vessel turn time by providing fully-
integrated vessel, berth, yard, and rail planning tools in one workspace.
Designed by terminal management professionals, Spinnaker was created with
you in mind - from the way it flexibly integrates into your existing
operation to how it flawlessly updates when your infrastructure or workflow
changes. With the most intuitive user interface on the market, Spinnaker
eliminates the guesswork from planning, while maximizing efficiency
throughout terminal operations.
Spinnaker is a 10 year old multi-tiered Windows application written in C++,
MFC, and DCOM. An Oracle database provides persistent storage. The
application enables multiple concurrent users to graphically plan
containerized cargo for vessel, yard, and rail facilities.
Job Description
Design and develop new and existing features in Spinnaker.
The ideal candidate will have good communication skills with technical and
business people.
They are doing large customizations to implement Spinnaker into rail road
systems across England and the US. Their rail business continues to grow.
98% of system code is C++, so must be able to read that
New code being written in C#
Interfacing through COM interop
Using XML for transformations
Large Application, 2 million lines of code
Come from C++, DCOM background
Can come from a java & jUnit background
Must be able to communicate, listen, and be detail-oriented
Technical Requirements
3 + years experience with C++/DCOM software development or Java experience
that includes writing jUnit tests
Experience developing Windows applications with Visual Studio 2005
2+ years using a source control system. Familiarity with Perforce is a plus.
Experience with multithreaded applications
Experience with C# preferred
Experience with systems that have concurrent users preferred
Non-Technical Requirements
Strong analytic skills
Passion for high quality software development
