(Reuters) - The bodies of seven apparent shooting victims were found on
Thursday in the western Michigan city of Grand Rapids, and police said they
had surrounded the suspected gunman.
The suspect was spotted in northeast Grand Rapids and police have set up a
perimeter, Michigan State Police Lieutenant Kyle Bowman said.
"They're obviously trying to resolve the situation as safely as possible
without harm to anyone else," Bowman said.
Local media reported that the man was thought to possibly have a hostage,
but Bowman could not confirm this.
Earlier, Grand Rapids Police Chief Kevin Belk said the seven bodies were
found at two separate locations. Two adult women and a girl were found dead
at one location and three women and a man at the second location.
In a video interview with the Grand Rapids Press newspaper, Belk said the
suspect, Rodrick Dantzler, was believed to be armed with a handgun and had
been traveling in a tan Lincoln Town Car.
The newspaper later reported that the suspect abandoned the car and was now
