Does anybody know what the price of houses there, schools, etc?
I really love Bay Area. But unfortunately I could not afford sending kids to
private school...

IT jobs there as it so close to DC. Traffic is bad and weather is not as

going up. Good public schools. Like powerpuff said, traffic is a nightmare
. Not many Chinese people, though. If you want good Chinese food, you'd
have to go to Rockville, MD, and even there the food is not even comparable
to the Chinese food in CA. | g*******t

If you're the only income of the house, be prepare to live in Reston or even
Herndon (both are not bad, quite good actually, just a little further)
With your current mind set, I feel you won't be happy moving there. I moved
from DC and I am not happy here either. So my suggestion is that not to go
with attitude.
By the way, in DC area, commuting 30miles one way is normal

McLean has two parts. The north part close to the river is rich. 1M
may gets a decent SFH. The south part close to Route 7 is
not so rich, but I don't think <800K can get a decent SFH in McLean
school district.
Public schools in Mclean are very good, from elementary to high.
There are 3 or 4 top 100 highs in Fairfax county. Two of them are close
to McLean. You don't have to live in Mclean though. Fairfax has a
different school system than CA. Every kid in the county have the chance
to go to TJH, the top 1 public high in US, no matter where you live.
I worked at Tysons Corner. It's a very nice place.

true, but for chinese kids, it's hard. so don't count on it.
(not sure which one is harder for chinese kids, getting into TJH or Stanford)

move to McLean. If her kids cannot get into TJH, maybe they can still
go to LH or WCH, still pretty good.
That's probably why McLean school district is expensive.
