Need help identifying where you can save water in your home? The City of San
Diego’s Public Utilities Department offers a free Residential Water Survey
appointment to all single-family and multi-family residents who are City
water customers. On average, the typical single-family household can reduce
their average daily water consumption by 13% or more.
Here’s how it works: At the time of your scheduled survey, a trained City
staff member will visit your home and check out both the interior and
exterior. They’ll perform activities such as showing you how to read your
meter, check for leaks, review your irrigation system and many other tricks
that can help determine where you can shave off some of your water usage.
Single-family customers will receive a summary check list at the completion
of the survey; multi-family customers will receive a summary report after
submitting data on dwelling units.

以下是群里的一些反馈 -
I also had a high water bill a couple of months ago and the meter had been
read wrong. I contacted the water department and they sent someone out to re
-read the meter. They adjusted my bill and gave me a new due date. The next
time the meter was read it was correct.
I agree with everyone. The water survey visit was very helpful. And I also
had a bill that seemed out of line. Compared the current meter reading with
my bill and found an error. A call to the water department fixed that. I
have also written down the meter reading, made sure all the water was off in
the house and then checked about 30 minutes later. Very reassuring to see
that there was no leak!
Our next-door neighbor had a leak @ the inlet valve near the sidewalk. We
went thru all kinds of gyrations to find out where the water was coming from
. (like digging up our yard) We thought it was us. The yard never looked so
good. So even thou it LOOKS like Flat ground, look UPHILL. I imagine THEIR
bill Must've gone up !
I did this, they give you a garden hose shut off sprayer and a shower timer
and dye packs to check for running toilets.
