In a March 25 letter mailed to Lieu's congressional campaign office, the
legislators asked their colleague to "remove our names from your list of
endorsements for Congress."
As of Wednesday evening, the names no longer were listed under the
endorsement page on Lieu's campaign website.
The letter was signed by Lieu state Senate colleagues Ricardo Lara of Bell
Gardens, Norma Torres of Pomona and Holly Mitchell of Los Angeles and by
Assembly members Lorena Gonzalez of San Diego, Anthony Rendon of Lakewood
and Jose Medina of Riverside. |

Volunteer Activity
Generally, an individual may volunteer personal services to a federal
candidate or federal political committee without making a contribution. The
Act provides this volunteer "exemption" as long as the individual
performing the service is not compensated by anyone. 11 CFR 100.74. The
Commission has addressed applicability of this exemption to volunteer
activity by a foreign national, as explained below.
In AO 1987-25, the Commission allowed a foreign national student to provide
uncompensated volunteer services to a Presidential campaign. By contrast,
the decision in AO 1981-51 prohibited a foreign national artist from
donating his services in connection with fundraising for a Senate campaign.[

他当初没有投票支持么？
现在对加州华裔来说，最紧迫的任务不是把民主党拉下来，打破一党独大的局面吗？就
因为一个已经做出对我们有伤害的决定的政客，所谓看上去在“亡羊补牢”，而实际上
没有任何实质效果的做法，导致了难以核实和界定程度的“损害”，就要我们支持他？
这个难道不是民主党的洗地贴子？
是我想太复杂了，还是太简单了？
看到这么多人要支持他，我是彻底不明白了，这是政治，不是学校里小朋友打架。 |

幼稚。我们现在就是要send the message，这个message越清晰越好！有人担心会有更
左的墨黑取代刘，是的，有这个可能。可是从长远看， 一旦我们的message清晰表明我
们的利益诉求，只要我们坚定一心支持共和党，那么民主党内的极左派自然会软下来。
而且，看看历史就知道了，支持“温和派”的民主党，只不过是温水煮青蛙罢了，民主
党更左化，只要他一党独大，就是不可避免的趋势。
失去本来就不值得争取的某个区没关系，重要的是我们在整个州发出自己的声音。这个
声音越清晰越好。
有一种的观点：某个民主党人投赞成票后出来做个悔过 （且不知是迫于压力还是真心
），人们就同情了支持了，就被paint成英雄了；而那些至始至终反对SCA5的共和党人
，反而被忽视了。这是犯贱心里吗？ |

团结的力量。我听了他的这段为什么他会改变立场的讲话，觉得他是真诚的。我也相信
通过这次事件后，他已经知道一定要更尊重亚裔的名义。

“I wanted to give you an update on SCA 5. As you may know, Senators Yee,
Liu, and I were blindsided by what happened. There was no opposition to SCA
5 when it was introduced in 2012 or when it passed committee in July 2013
or when it came to the Senate floor in Jan 2014 before our vote. Every
major Asian American civil rights organization opposed Prop 209.
After our vote, we heard from numerous people in the community. Based on
the community’s reaction, I am trying to be responsive. Here is what I
have done so far:
– Met with Assembly Speaker John Perez and wrote a letter today to Speaker
Perez, join by Senators Yee and Liu, asking him to stop SCA 5 (see attached
letter);
– Issued a public press release calling on Sen Hernandez to stop SCA 5 (see
below);
– Talked to Sen Hernandez urging him to stop SCA 5 (he is thinking about
doing so);
– Publicly stated I would not vote for SCA 5 again if it came back to the
Senate upon amendment;
– Talked to API Assemblymembers asking them to stop SCA 5;
– Talked to non-API Assemblymembers asking them to stop SCA 5.
As a long-time champion for the API community on numerous issues, it has
been personally hurtful to receive some of the attacks from the community.
Nevertheless, I am trying to be responsive to the community.
I want you to know I am doing everything I can to stop SCA 5.”

他伸出援手，只有我們這些草根的群眾可以給他鼓勵。如果我們完全棄他而去，將來誰
也不會在他的黨內為我們社區發出任何聲音。
3）劉雲平年紀尚輕，是華人社區中的一顆政壇上的星星。他的資歷也非常好。雖然作
錯了一件事，有些瑕疵，但他終究是一個有希望在政壇中繼續上升的人物。可以打進美
國政壇這樣的華裔人才真是不多。雖然不同政黨，我們也須愛才。
4). 劉雲平的國會眾議員選區是一個深藍區，在他的選區現時無法找到一個有能力可以
選贏的共和黨後選人，同時亞裔人數暫時不夠可以協助共和黨在那個選區翻盤，所以我
們只能從現有的候選人當中找一個對我們社區可能最有幫助的人。雖然在黨的理念的重
大議題上如 SCA 5，劉雲平也許不一定能幫忙，但我確信在其他的方面他還是會對我們
的社區有幫助的。” |

没有上去的可能了。
我们现在做的是把浅蓝的地方变成浅红的，在深蓝的地方支持支持我们的人。刘曾经来
过SD募款，之前，他承诺过如果SCA5今年再到参议院，他一定会投反对票。80-20相信
他的承诺是真诚的。所以在其3/21的newsletter里建议我们unelect Paul Fong和
Leland Yee，并考虑支持刘云平。

We need to pass a strong message to all AsAm politicians who have been
negligent in defending our rightful interests. So 80-20 recommends UN-
electing
(a) Paul Fong who'll be term limited out as an Assemblyman and
will be running for City Council 1 in San Jose, and
(b) Leland Yee who is also term limited out as a Senator and will be
running for Secretary of State of CA.
Ted Lieu has helped 80-20 stop SCA 5 in many ways. He also
stated publicly: "I will vote against SCA 5 if and when it comes
back to the Senate and any amendment in any form that continues to
seek race conscious admissions." We recommend that you give him
due consideration in his Congressional campaign.
Carol Liu's attitude in SCA 5 is very questionable, but she is NOT running
this year.
