On May 12th, 2008 there was a davastating 7.9-magnitude earthquake only 60
miles away from my home town, Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, China. The
number of casualties in the affected area, measured almost the same size of
Maryland, is over 19,000 today and this number could well reach over 50K,
quoted Xinhua News, the official State Media in China. More than 18,000
people were still trapped under debris in even one single hard-hit city:
