Roses need special care during winter in places where the temperature drops
below 10 degrees F (-12 degrees C). Fortunately, it's fairly easy to prepare
and protect roses for the winter months. Preparing your roses for winter
starts early--during the growing season. The better you take care of roses
during their growing season, the stronger they'll fight the effects of
winter. A rose that is prepared for winter is referred to as "hardened off."
1.
Start early. The healthier the roses during summer and fall, the sturdier
they'll be and the stronger they'll withstand the cold weather. During their
growing season, make sure you're giving them enough water and nutrients.
Also make sure they don't suffer from any disease or fungi.

About six weeks before the first low temperature drop, stop giving
fertilizer to your roses. This will encourage them to stop growing and
become dormant, thus beginning their "hardening off."

If the weather has been dry, make sure to keep the roses watered. This is
especially important after the first frost. When this happens, water the
roses thoroughly before the ground freezes again to ensure the roots will
absorb enough liquid for the winter.

Strip the leaves, then cut the major canes to about 3 to 4 feet with a pair
of pruning shears. This will make handling and caring for the roses easier.
At this point you may also want to spray a fungicide to further protect the
plant.
o 5
Bundle up the major canes and tie them with string.
o 6
When the ground around the rose is frozen, cover it with new soil, then
cover this soil with at least a foot of compost, leaves or straw. This will
protect the roots and ensure that the ground stays frozen.
o 7
To ensure that this mulch stays in place, enclose the plant with a cylinder
wire mesh that is about 6 inches (15 cm) taller than the plant itself. It
should be well anchored to the ground to prevent dislocation from harsh
winter winds. For even more protection, a plastic cover may be placed around
the wire mesh. |

发帖数: 2995 | 18 所有的都死了，只有几颗在根部发出新芽来了。我屋子一周大概有20颗玫瑰，最矮的也
有一米多高，高的可能是4米左右。
那次寒潮太冷了，从来没想到那么冷，零下20多摄氏度，连续好几个晚上，当时玫瑰冬
眠期都过完了，在发嫩芽，所以一下全冻死了，要是冬眠期可能强点。
可怜当时我们还在欣赏玫瑰上面堆满了白雪的美景，全然不知道玫瑰那个时候被冻死了。
现在玫瑰全没有发芽，主枝在一点点变黑，我昨天锯开来发现，所有的主干心都是干枯
的，虽然有的外皮看着还是青的
