and it's not unusual to see runners who decide not to race wiling to
transfer their bibs. officially, a bib is not transferable but so many are
in fact transferred. so my question to those who have done this before:
is there "a rule of thumb" or "dos and don'ts" when it comes to receiving a
bib? e.g. do you need to be same gender, age group, pace, etc?

originally registered and could face banding from the race (by the book),
but i've never heard that ever happened.

2. Go for it but do not tell as many people as you can
3. Remember the original bib holder's info when you pick up the packet
4. Once you have a bib number, no one is really trying to pick you out,
unless you are running smokingly fast.
5. overall above could be bullshit. It is just a bib, and two runners' deal.
