within 1 hr drive from
Chicago (there are a couple of good ones in WI, IN, but >3-hr driving kills
it)... I found the
"Schaumburg Half Marathon & 5k Run/Walk". Is it a fun one:)
Hehe, this will be my first HM. The best I did before is a 10k and I
finished it in 50 min (F, late 20's).
After that, I had to stop running for several months due to injuries and
busy schedule...then recovery
training... Did a 9.5-mile run for each of the past two weekends and felt
good. I thought it might take
me longer to dare to challenge a HM race. But I never knew I could go beyond
6-mile until I did it...So,
guess I can push myself a little bit further:) I will be pretty happy if I
can finish it within 2 hours.

Chicago Marathon is in Oct, so very few Half races in this area (since
most of people are taking break for the season).
Yes. Schuamburg has one. never run that but could be a fun race.
(do not think it has chip - but it also means cheaper)

Yeah, I know Chicago marathon is just two weeks back. Too much for me
anyways. Will do it next year.
If nothing interesting left for 2010, I will go for a HM race in early 2011. | m**k

but there will be a very 'hot' one in March. - March Madness in Cary, Il
this one opens register at new year but will be filled in several hours.

Actually, I was thinking about sth. in May. As you said, Chicago winter is
