Lawsuit Filed Against Iowa Judicial Oustings
By Advocate.com Editors
IOWA SUPREME COURT JUSTICES X390 (FAIR) | ADVOCATE.COM
A group of Iowa attorneys is attempting to keep on the bench three state
supreme court justices who ruled in favor of marriage equality last year but
were voted out in November.
The attorneys argue that the judicial votes should have been placed on a
separate ballot per the Iowa constitution, TheDes Moines Register reports.
Groups including the National Organization for Marriage, the Family Research
Council, and the American Family Association launched a successful $1
million campaign against three of the state's justices who were up for
retention votes in November. Justices Marsha Ternus, Michael J. Streit, and
David L. Baker were all voted off the bench.
The campaign was led by Bob Vander Plaats of Iowa for Freedom. Vander Plaats
originally ran for governor of Iowa on the platform of eliminating marriage
equality but lost the primary. | g********d 发帖数: 4174 | 2 考考大家,这里面哪个是好人哪个是坏人?我糊涂了。 |
