, experienced recruiters treat MSCF and NYU on the same level, with HASS on
a slightly lower level. All of the three are tier 1 though. Don't look at
the placement stats on their website - NONE of them are being 100% honest.
MSCF has a much larger alumni network. People inside the industry know how
to pick the best candidates from the best school. you should think from
their angle for a more objective view.

前者比后者贵个100%

B*********r 发帖数: 62 | 11 MSCF is easier to find a job for junior candidates;
Many of MFE graduates do not find jobs in the east coast, they stay in the
west coast - that's what I heard.
Good luck

K****Y 发帖数: 74 | 12 You should check the class profile and see whether you like CMU or Haas.

If you have some working experience, Haas can place you in a higher level -
associate; if you are fresh undergrad, you can find more common friends in
CMU program.
Haas is more finance focus; CMU is more CS focus.
Location is not an issue at all. All program are well known. |

g****e 发帖数: 1829 | 14 mainly because MSCF has a larger curriculum coverage than HASS, and some of
the recruiters know about it.
Students from all the three schools (MSCF, NYU and HASS) are equally smart,
but the curriculum of MSCF helps a bit here.
All what I'm saying is that, if you have a choice, go to MSCF. If you do not
have a choice and go to any of the three schools, you won't regret it.

P****d 发帖数: 369 | 15 I don't really think the curriculum at MFE is important. |
B*********r 发帖数: 62 | 16 I have to respectfully disagree on this argument - a "larger curriculum" is
neither better nor necessary. For example, 4 C++ programming courses are
likely a waste of both money and time, considering that most MFE students do
have industry experience. In addition, MSCF's Prob, Stat, Econ, and Finance
courses are covered by undergraduate education, or can be easily picked up
when preparing for CFA exams.
Again, both MFE and MSCF are top programs. The key is personal preference.
Disclaimer, I AM BIASED. I am heading to Haas next spring. Interested in
forming a group of future classmates too. Anyone will be joining MFE class
starting 2013?
Also are there any Haas alumli here to share your experience? :)
