Anyone could give me some suggestion about it?
I can sit in front of the computer almost overnight, feel extremely bored,but
can not stop, (mitbbs, some movie sites, rockmusic sites are the websites I
usually go to ) it indeed affect my study,my work and my health. I went back
to China this summer for 3 weeks, and the IAD was temporarily cured. But
after 3 days I came back, it appeared again. What could I do to overcome it?

some friedns, do something other than web surfing, make yourself busy as hell.
It would cure itself. Otherwise, go to see a doctor, but I suggest you use it
as the last resort.

IAD只是症状,是“标”,不是问题的根源。
你应该感谢互连网为你提供了一个非常好的HIDDING PLACE。
因为有了互联网,你没有取酗酒,没有去迷恋其它不健康的东西。
用其它任何一种习惯来取代互联网,尽管那种习惯可能看起来非常好,都是
治标不治本的方法。只是让你从一个HIDDING PLACE 转移到另外一个。
这种建议也是不解决实际问题的,最终也就是不负责任的。比如说回国
旅行,你会感觉到你已经不再迷恋网络了,其实IAD发生的本源还在,
所以你回来后它还会反复。因为你不能一辈子旅行。
网络IAD看起来很可怕的另外一个原因是中国学生,技术工人的生活
依赖网络:你总要检查电子邮件,上网查资料,甚至上网交作业。
如果你工作了,你要上网找工作,找房子。等等。
我认为治疗所谓IAD的最佳办法是把“本”找出来。一旦解决了
你为什么会有IAD的症状,我们也就有相应的技术手段来调整自己的心态。
所谓的IAD症状本身应该是不知不觉的就能痊愈了。
如何把这个“病”(我必须声明,我不认为IAD本身是心理疾病,它
只是一个症状。我们在美国的中国人的IAD绝大部分并不是IAD

我想大概我对自己的专业缺乏足够的热情吧...但是其实已经下了决心先把学位拿到再说

纸阅览室,翻遍所有的电影音乐八卦杂志(比如从架子上找5.6年前的环球银幕的合订本...
)无论几点进去的,不到晚上关门绝对不出来....
越到考试复习就越想去....
仔仔细细想想,这个问题大概存在好多好多年了....'

about 1.5 years ago. At that time, my future was not clear and I was very
depressed (see if you have depression). But later when I went to another
school and became very busy, there is simply just no time to spend wandering
in the internet except doing my homework. When I was free, I borrowed movie
videos from public library (fortunately we have a very good one here).

find out the root of the problem. I find many factors at work when
you are addicted to the internet, including depression, low self-esteem,
loss of direction, etc. I myself find all of of the above applies to me.
I think it would be useful to start treating it the way of breaking a
bad habit, like smoking. I read somewhere a particularly awakening

我也说不清为什么不喜欢自己的major,以前只想着前辈牛人都学这个,那我也学吧.可能是
繁重的bench
work,模糊的将来和比较push的老板让偶不舒服吧.不过说实在,老板虽然很push,但是她说
的话似乎还是有道理的.anyway,现在也不知道自己到底喜欢做什么,而且总觉得条件所限
制吧,也没有什么别的选择.

我觉得我现在的状态和你说的一模一样呢,depression (sometimes bipolar), low
self-esteem (除了做蹩脚试验其他的都不行), totally loss of direction!
谢谢你教的方法!我试试一想上网就去读paper的习惯吧,但是通常我会在开始读paper的5m
