As long as you're not "just a programmer" and don't pay attention to
industry news, at least you can spend the first few years of your career in
C#.
You can always learn a few other languages at home. Thus, this is my advice
too: if you ever do programming at home, don't use the same language you use
at work. Use a different one.
My biggest asset would always be my signal processing skills (image
processing, computer vision), not application programming skills.

k**********g 发帖数: 989 | 7 One more thing. The entire software world is shifting to SaaS (Software as a
Service) model.
This means some software which businesses (all the way from one-person shops
to family business to 100+ employee companies to Forbes 100) will
increasingly rely on online web services to substitute part of software
which they used to develop themselves.
Considering that C# and Windows platform is very popular in the smaller
companies, this shift to SaaS can have dramatic effect on this segment of
the market.
If all of the functionalities can be accessed on the browser, do you still
care what OS you use?
If this trend continues, then application development will inevitably become
"Javascript plus" development - even back-end programmers will need to know
some Javascript. |
g*****g 发帖数: 34805 | 8 If node.js starts to dominate the front end across the board, and widows is
dying. C#/Windows will be cornered to server backend and fight hand-to-hand
with Java/Linux. And don't forget small companies may prefer using node.js
full stack.
The writing is on the wall. |
N********n 发帖数: 8363 | 9 No one at the back end gives a crap about anything JS-based, node or not.
Here the most JS-friendly team is from BING division and yet we heard
them complaining about "crappy JS cannot do big scale projects" all the
time, and that's why MSFT has to develop a "typescript" for them.
All those trying to tell you that JS is good for back end either never
write any big business applications w/ JS or are just flat out selling
you snake oil. Don't fall for that.
If some day some language like DART could be supported by all browser to
compete w/ JS, there'd be no contest. JS popularity would be crushed. |

If you have GC or citizenship, and can hold a minimum security clearance,
then choose C#.
