A postdoctoral position is available to study basic and translational
aspects of lung fibrosis.
The goals include:
Developing novel therapeutic approaches for fibrosis, and new genetic and
CRISPR strategies to target cellular function.
The work is to be conducted within a multidisciplinary laboratory featuring
state-of-the-art resources and expertise in cellular/multicellular/ex vivo
tissue models, animal modeling of fibrosis, FACS and in situ imaging,
mechanobiology, as well as access to outstanding core facilities.
Established experience in two or more of the following is highly desirable:
(a) advanced techniques in biochemistry, cellular, and molecular biology
relevant to fibrosis research; (b) genomic or epigenomic approaches; (c)
experimental modeling and analysis of fibrosis in mice; (d) primary
isolation, culture and/or analysis of lung-derived epithelial and
mesenchymal cell populations; and (e) cell/tissue imaging techniques such as
fluorescence, confocal, multiphoton and atomic force microscopy.
The candidate will be expected to develop and execute independent research
plans leading to peer-reviewed publications.
Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary group of research personnel,
and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Although the candidate's salary (NIH scale) will be fully supported by
intramural as well as extramural (NIH) funding, he/she will be expected to
initiate progress towards independence via submission of research grant
proposals.
