latest books, "The Sovereign State and Its Competitors", and "Ending Empire:
Contested Sovereignty And Territorial Partition" address the problem about"

" respectively. He's my previous boss and I planned to do my dissertation
with him and study Chinese Empire. But later due to the unexpected change of

I just browsed your advisor's books and it seems he deals with mainly
empires transformation in Europe. He does address how the old system shaped
today's system and partition.Yet he is not dealing with why there are
different regime types after the trasmformation?Anyway, they are useful lens
when we examine the empires elsewhere.
