USATT, the boeing guy or ypeng, did u play this tour before?
i like this setup, there are events from 2000, 2100, 2200 and 2300
all RR with prize $$, very good setup events. | t****1

2000 for the first time.
This year's tournament is the second Kitsap tournament. The players are
mostly from Seattle area, with some Vancouver BC, Oregon, and even a few
from California. Players from CA are usually good players. This year, Fan
Yiyong defeated Barney Reed 4:0 in the final. | c****1

I am not lefty.
I probably know who you were referring to that Boeing guy. He is about 1700
- 1800, and as far as I know he just switched to pips out a few months ago.

across the Puget Sound Bay -- about a half hour ride.
To drive from downtown, it's 90 minutes.

If so, he is not a lefty. (At least in Seattle area)
He is right-handed and his rating is changing from 2000 to 2200. I play him
all the times, our win-lose record is about 50-50.

I haven't seen him for several weeks now.
Well, I don't know if you are using penhold or shakehand.
Basically, when he does not serve heavy under-spin, you would have to put
the ball close to his body (middle of the table) so he cannot easily launch
attack.
If you are a penhold, when blocking his forehand loops, try to block them
with left side-spin (towards his left side).
If you shakehand, you need to have certain level of all around defense and
offense to beat him. (Sounds like you have that level)
Remember, put the ball in the middle.
Hi, don't tell him someone in Seattle giving tips when you start to beat him
most of times. Then, he would have extra motivation to beat me.

and feel like these posts are neither Chinese nor English.
I frankly don't have a clue on even one thing folks are talking about.
To block a slow and spiny loop on your backhand, a block with left-side spin
is very effective and not too difficult to do -- just apply a left side
spin when you block. (If you could move your paddle downwards, you can even
have a under-spin block.) To block a fast loop, you would need to be able
to block first. Then, you can still block the ball with a side spin if you
could remember in a split-ed second. But, generally it's difficult to do.

i saw some great penholders like Li, Jiao, has no problem for her
backhand blocks against a good shakehand, sometimes even a lefty..
what is a good combination of rubber/racket for good blocks?

发帖数: 873 | 17 I wish I could add a side spin when returning a short underspin serve. That
's hard for me to do. But, to add a strong left side spin when you push (
even a slow push) could make a lot of players (under 2000) very
uncomfortable.
As for the blade/rubber choice, I usually have a hard blade with a soft
sponge. But, that's just my preference.
