But, 探索外星球 doesn't necessarily mean you have to physically go to 外星球
(but if you do have the means to go, I'm sure there will be plenty of
people who are willing to go with you).
There are many many other ways to explore our universe. And there are tons
of amateur and professional universe explorers.
For example, there were comets discovered by amateur astronomers, like
Bruenjes Comet C/2012 C2?
Also there is SETI (Search for extraterrestrial intelligence) program
supported mostly by ordinary people with a computer? You can take part in
that as well.
And there are tones of discussions, forums, researches, and etc. on many
images taken by the Hubble telescope? You may joint that, and you may
discover something interesting. Those images are extraordinary and
magnificent, certainly not earthly, if you ever see one.
You certainly can and will find your "soul mate" there.
And you see, that is an interest, which may not be so 阳春白雪?
