At the team meeting, Freeze's introduces guest speaker Ken Smith, a pastor
and former high school and college football coach in Mississippi, Tennessee
and Florida. Freeze calls him "my mentor in life, who walks with me and
holds me accountable."
Smith has the players immediately laughing. He tells a story how he dreamed
he, Freeze and Rebs' defensive back coach Wesley McGriff died after being in
a car that was hit by a train. He said in his dream, he and McGriff were in
heaven but were tied on a 12-foot chain to two unattractive women as
penance, because God told Smith he and McGriff had so much sin in their
lives.
"Then I looked over at Freeze and he was chained to J-Lo," says Smith,
referring to singer/actress Jennifer Lopez. "I said, 'God, I know about my
sin and Coach McGriff's sin. How did Freeze get J-Lo?' And God said, 'Well,
she has to pay for HER sins.' " |
